What the question summaries mean

The exam list shows public metadata such as the exam name, question count, duration, and passing threshold when those values are configured. These summaries help you choose an appropriate practice session without exposing protected question content or answer data.

The domain list shows the public certification areas and their configured question counts. Use it as a study map: review the domains where you are least confident, then return to a timed session to check whether your accuracy and pacing have improved.

Practice exam FAQ

How many questions are included?

The configured question count is shown in the exam summaries above. Free and Premium scopes may contain different exams, so the count depends on the shortcode used on the page.

Can I practice by domain?

Yes, when domain data is configured for the certification. Select one or more domains in the Domain Practice option to focus the session on a specific area.

Are the practice exams timed?

The available duration is shown in each public exam summary. Full-Length Exam Mode is intended for timed practice, while Practice Mode can be used for a slower study session when the selected configuration supports it.

Are detailed explanations provided?

When explanations are configured for an exam, they are available through the existing review and results experience after an attempt. The server-rendered page does not expose protected explanation text.

Does CloudExamPro use real AWS exam questions?

The practice engine presents preparation content configured by the site owner. It does not expose protected question data in the initial page source, and access to an exam session continues to be enforced on the server.

What should I do after an attempt?

Review your result and domain feedback, identify the topics that need work, and use another focused or timed attempt to measure progress. Repeating an exam is most useful when it is paired with targeted review.

What the DEA-C01 exam covers

The Data Engineer Associate exam tests whether you can build and run data pipelines on AWS. You'll get scenarios about moving data in, shaping it, storing it well, and keeping it secure, and you pick the design that fits the constraints. AWS splits the scored questions across four domains:

34%

Data Ingestion and Transformation

Batch versus streaming, Kinesis Data Streams and Firehose, MSK, Glue ETL, Lambda, EMR, Step Functions, and moving data with DMS and AppFlow.

26%

Data Store Management

Choosing between S3, Redshift, DynamoDB, and RDS, building a data lake, the Glue Data Catalog, file formats like Parquet, and partitioning.

22%

Data Operations and Support

Orchestrating pipelines, monitoring with CloudWatch, querying with Athena, data quality checks, and troubleshooting jobs that fail or run slowly.

18%

Data Security and Governance

IAM, Lake Formation permissions, KMS encryption, Macie for sensitive data, masking, and audit trails with CloudTrail.

Our 25-question set leans the same way, with the most questions on ingestion and transformation, so a weak result in one area points you to a real gap and not a quirk of the sample.

How to use this practice exam

1

Sit it like the real thing

Close other tabs, keep your notes out of reach, and let the timer run. The scenarios are wordy, and rushing the details is how most people lose points they actually know.

2

Read every explanation

Including the ones you got right. If you guessed, count it as wrong. For each miss, write down why the other options fail. Then rebuild that pipeline in the console if you can, because the exam rewards hands-on instinct.

3

Book it when you hit 80%

Once you score 80 percent or better on a fresh set, you're in good shape to book. AWS charges $150 USD for the DEA-C01, and a retake means paying again, so it's worth being sure first.

How to Master DEA-C01 Exam Questions: The Ultimate 5-Step Strategy

We've coached plenty of data engineers through this exam, and the pattern never changes. They know the services, then lose points on which one the question wants. We went through every question in the six premium DEA-C01 practice exams and tested our coaching approach against them. This is how we teach students to read a pipeline scenario and which habits pay off most.

49%involve AWS Glue
33%ask for the least operational effort or overhead
38%have two answer options that are almost identical
1

Isolate the constraint

One phrase decides the question: "least operational burden," "lowest cost," "near real time," "must not affect the source." Find it first. When the exam asks for the least effort, it usually wants the managed or serverless choice, not the one you have to build and run yourself.

2

Place the question in the pipeline

Is it about ingesting, transforming, storing, serving or securing the data? Glue shows up in about half the bank, so be clear on when Glue is the right tool and when EMR, Lambda or Step Functions fits better. Orchestration questions come down to how complex the workflow is and how much you want to manage.

3

Ask: move the data, or query it where it is?

Redshift appears in about three in ten questions. Zero-ETL integrations, federated queries, Spectrum and materialized views each answer a different version of that question. Know what each one avoids, whether that's building a pipeline, copying data, or hitting the source database.

4

Performance is mostly layout

When a query or job slows down as the data grows, look at how the data is laid out. Partition on the column you filter by, store it in a columnar format, compact small files, and choose distribution styles that keep joins local. These fixes beat bigger hardware in most of the questions.

5

Check permissions in both places

When a job fails to read encrypted data, the cause is often the encryption key, not the bucket. Check the role's access to both. For column-level access, think Lake Formation. For troubleshooting, use the exact metric, log or console view the question names, not a general one.

Pro tip: When two options are almost the same, they differ in one place, often the service doing the work or where the data lands. Find that difference and test it against the constraint from step one.

Common mistakes on the Data Engineer exam

Mixing up Kinesis Data Streams and Firehose. Streams is for custom consumers and replaying data. Firehose is the managed option that delivers data to S3, Redshift, or OpenSearch with little to run. If the question wants the least operational effort, it's usually Firehose.

Ignoring file format and partitioning. Columnar formats like Parquet and sensible partitions cut Athena scan costs and speed up queries. Questions about slow or expensive queries often come down to this.

Reaching for EMR when Glue will do. Glue is serverless and fits most ETL scenarios. EMR makes sense when you need control over the cluster or a specific big data framework.

Treating security as IAM alone. For data lakes, Lake Formation handles table, column, and row-level access. When a question asks who can see which columns, think Lake Formation before writing another IAM policy.

DEA-C01 practice exam FAQ

Is this DEA-C01 practice exam really free?

Yes. You don't need to sign up or enter a card. Start it, finish it, and see your score and explanations right away.

How many questions are on the real DEA-C01 exam?

The real exam has 65 questions and a 130-minute limit. Fifteen of them are unscored, but you won't know which, so treat each one as if it counts. The passing score is 720 on a scale of 100 to 1,000.

Is the Data Engineer Associate exam hard?

It's aimed at people who already build data pipelines. AWS suggests a couple of years of data engineering experience and some hands-on time with AWS services. If you're newer to the field, plan on two to three months of steady study and practice in the console.

What score should I get before I book the exam?

Aim for 80 percent or higher on a few different practice sets. That cushion covers exam-day nerves and the odd question you haven't seen before.

Are these the actual exam questions?

No. They're original questions written to cover the same topics and use the same style. Anyone offering real exam questions is breaking AWS's candidate agreement, and we don't do that.

How long is the DEA-C01 certification valid?

Three years. After that you can recertify by passing the current exam again.
