EMR is AWS’s managed big-data platform for running frameworks like Apache Spark, Hive, and Hadoop on clusters of EC2 instances. When you need heavy, large-scale data processing and want control over the cluster, EMR is the tool.
EMR vs Glue
Both run Spark. Glue is serverless — no cluster, best for standard ETL with minimal ops. EMR gives you a real cluster you configure and tune — best for very large or custom workloads, or when you need specific framework versions. Question says “no clusters to manage”? Glue. Says “full control / massive Spark or Hadoop jobs”? EMR.

Correct answer: B. EMR provides configurable clusters for large-scale, customized Spark/Hadoop processing. Glue (A) is serverless with less control; Athena (C) is SQL query, not cluster processing; Lambda (D) has a 15-minute limit and isn’t for big-data clusters.
