Storage Gateway connects your on-premises environment to AWS storage, so on-prem apps can use cloud storage as if it were local. It’s the exam’s answer for hybrid storage scenarios.
The gateway types
File Gateway presents S3 as an NFS/SMB file share. Volume Gateway provides block storage backed by S3, with cached or stored modes. Tape Gateway replaces physical tape backups with a virtual tape library in S3/Glacier. The scenario’s protocol (files, block, or tape backup) tells you which.

Correct answer: B. Tape Gateway presents a virtual tape library backed by S3/Glacier, so existing backup software works unchanged. File Gateway (A) is for file shares; Volume Gateway (C) is block storage; Direct Connect (D) is a network link, not storage.
